Faith and Tyler McCoy Scriven are a local Atlanta couple who came in to ATL Tailor in November in search of a couple’s outfit for the holidays.
No, they weren’t looking for a cutesy “his and hers” outfit pair made from the same colored material, nor were they looking for anything in the vicinity of one of the trite two-part costumes that are only acceptable on Halloween. Instead, they wanted to have two outfits that were complementary of each other in color and design without looking tacky or cliche. A pairing that would look completely natural on the two halves of a ballroom dancing duo swirling around a ballroom in each other’s arms.
The master artisans at ATL Tailor have a secret: not only are they experts when it comes to crafting garments, but they’re also intimately familiar with the principles of clothing design and color aesthetics. And those are the skills that came to the surface when designing Faith and Tyler’s outfits. They worked to design a ballgown and a two-piece suit with colors that went well with each other: a black suit and an emerald green dress.
The designers knew that the suit was the “grounding” half of the ensemble, with its black color conveying a sophisticated and neutral tone that would not take away any attention from the flashier dress. That being said, the suit did have some ever-so-subtle emerald green highlights to tie it into the theme of the dress – most notably, the pocket square was made from the same sequined emerald green material as the dress.
Faith’s evening gown was conceived as the show-stealing half of the paired outfit. The vibrant, rich hue conveys a luscious, natural feel but also an excitement that stands out against the subdued black of the suit. The sequins add to the eye-catching nature of the dress, making it an even more of a showstopper.
The two pieces of the ensemble were designed and tailored to complement each other, complement the body types and skin tones of Faith and Tyler, and convey an air of timeless class and sophistication.
A refine couple’s outfit like the one that Faith and Tyler McCoy Scriven made for themselves this holiday is a great way for significant others to bring themselves closer together during special events. The holidays are a great time for them, but they really are gifts that can keep giving all year round.
