Faith & Tyler: A Couple’s Outfit That Danced in Harmony

In fashion, true elegance doesn’t always come from bold matching or flashy trends—it often comes from subtle harmony.

For Atlanta couple Faith and Tyler McCoy Scriven, the goal wasn’t to wear identical outfits or make a dramatic “his and hers” statement.

Instead, they came to ATL Tailor with a refined, creative vision: to look like a perfectly paired ballroom duo—coordinated, elegant, and unique to who they each were as individuals.

What they wanted was balance. What they got was a head-turning ensemble that told a story of partnership, poise, and personal style.

A Holiday Season to Remember

It was early November when Faith and Tyler walked into our Buckhead location. The holiday season was just beginning to hum with events, and they had a number of end-of-year galas and parties on their calendar.

But rather than wear something off the rack or order a last-minute outfit online, they decided to invest in something more meaningful—something custom.

Their request was simple in concept but required thoughtful execution: two garments that complemented each other without being too on-the-nose.

They didn’t want to look like they were in costume. They wanted to look like they belonged together, naturally.

At ATL Tailor, that’s exactly the kind of design challenge we love.

Why Faith and Tyler Came to ATL Tailor

Faith and Tyler had heard about our work from friends who had used our bespoke services for weddings and red-carpet appearances.

Our ability to translate inspiration into high-quality, fully custom garments stood out to them.

They didn’t want a stylist or designer who would override their vision—they wanted partners in the creative process.

They brought in a few references: a swatch of fabric, a photo of a ballroom couple mid-spin, and a Pinterest board filled with emerald hues and subtle textures. That was more than enough to get started.

The Bespoke Experience: Style, Balance, and Expression

Working with couples is a unique experience in tailoring. It’s not just about two individual outfits—it’s about how those pieces interact when worn side-by-side.

From posture to fabric to movement, every detail must align to tell a shared story without losing personal identity.

1. The Anchor: Tyler’s Suit

Tyler’s look needed to ground the overall aesthetic. We started with a classic black two-piece suit tailored to his frame, with a tapered fit that offered a modern silhouette. Black was the perfect anchor—timeless, versatile, and refined.

But the brilliance was in the details.

  • Emerald Pocket Square: Made from the same sequined fabric as Faith’s gown, this accessory tied the two looks together without being obvious.
  • Subtle Satin Trim: The lapel had a satin finish that subtly mirrored the sheen of Faith’s dress, adding quiet glamour.
  • Midweight Wool: We chose a wool blend that offered structure and movement, perfect for dancing or long evenings on the event circuit.

2. The Showstopper: Faith’s Gown

Faith wanted something bold, feminine, and unforgettable. After reviewing fabric samples and sketches, she selected a rich emerald green sequined fabric that shimmered with elegance under every light.

We designed a full-length gown with the following key features:

  • Fitted Bodice and Flowing Skirt: The bodice was cut to accentuate her waist and shoulders, while the skirt flowed naturally, allowing for graceful movement.
  • Plunging Back: A tasteful open-back design added allure without overpowering the elegance of the dress.
  • Sequin Detail: The sequins were arranged in a cascading pattern, emphasizing length and movement—a subtle nod to waterfall patterns in classic Vietnamese embroidery, a quiet tribute to our tailoring roots.

Faith’s dress didn’t just complement Tyler’s suit—it danced with it.

3. Coordinated Without Matching

One of the most exciting challenges was creating a “matching” couple’s outfit that didn’t look too rehearsed. Our goal was harmony, not uniformity. The emerald in Faith’s gown echoed in Tyler’s pocket square. The black of his suit allowed her dress to shine.

Their garments were designed to look like they belonged in the same story—even if they were entirely different characters.

Their Reaction in the Fitting Room

When Faith and Tyler returned for their final fitting, the energy in the room shifted.

Tyler tried on his suit and instantly looked the part—polished, composed, effortlessly elegant. Faith stepped out in her gown, and the two of them stood together in front of the mirror.

“You look like a painting,” Tyler said, stunned.

Faith laughed, holding his hand. “And we’re the frame.”

That’s what bespoke is about—creating pieces that not only look beautiful but evoke something personal, shared, and true.

Why Couples Come to ATL Tailor for Coordinated Looks

Faith and Tyler’s experience is a perfect example of what can happen when a couple embraces the idea of style as storytelling. Coordinated doesn’t mean identical. It means intentional.

At ATL Tailor, we help couples translate their connection into visual harmony—without compromising individuality.

  • Collaborative Design Process: We believe couples should be part of the process from beginning to end. We offer side-by-side consultations and fittings, so the garments evolve together.
  • Expert Guidance on Color and Fit: Whether you’re looking to pair textures, match color accents, or balance silhouettes, we’ll guide you through the process to find the right pairing for your body types and personal aesthetics.
  • Tailored to Movement and Occasion: Planning to dance? Hosting? Attending a black-tie event? We build garments that work for your lifestyle and your event calendar—not just a photo op.
  • Fine Fabrics, Fast Turnarounds: Our team oversees every step in the process. That means you get better quality, more customization, and quicker delivery—often within 7–10 days for complete outfits.
  • A Signature Look, Every Time: We don’t do templates. Every piece is built from scratch for your measurements, your body, your event, and your style.

When Style Reflects the Relationship

Faith and Tyler didn’t want to wear costumes. They wanted to wear clothing that felt like them—elevated. Their final look didn’t just turn heads. It told a story.

A story of balance, partnership, and style that’s deeply personal.

In a world of cookie-cutter fashion and overly matchy couple outfits, their bespoke look stood tall as something unique, timeless, and unforgettable.

Whether you’re attending a gala, getting engaged, dancing at your anniversary party, or just want to celebrate your love with style, ATL Tailor can help you design a look that’s as elegant and thoughtful as your relationship.
